Frequently asked

How quickly can you get to the hospital?
Most Twin Cities hospital requests are covered the same day, frequently within 90 minutes. Emergency response is available around the clock.
What if the patient is medicated or very weak?
The signer must be awake, able to understand what they're signing, and able to communicate their intent. We assess this respectfully at the bedside. If the signer isn't able to proceed, we say so rather than complete a signing that could be challenged later — and no service fee is charged for that visit beyond the deposit terms we discuss up front.
What ID does the patient need?
A current, unexpired government-issued photo ID. If the ID is at home, a family member can bring it — please arrange that before the appointment, since we cannot proceed without it.
Do you need permission from the hospital?
Generally no, but we follow each facility's visitor and unit protocols. Letting the nurse or care team know we're coming helps the visit go smoothly.
Can you bring witnesses?
When available, yes. Hospital staff usually cannot serve as witnesses, so plan on family members who are not named in the document, or ask us to arrange witnesses in advance.
What documents do families usually sign at the hospital?
Most often powers of attorney, health care directives, wills and self-proving affidavits, and financial or insurance paperwork.
How does payment work?
A deposit reserves your appointment and is credited toward the final invoice. The balance is invoiced after the signing is complete. Cards, cash, and checks are accepted — card payments include a $4.95 processing fee.

Before your appointment

  • Any special instructions or building/access information
  • Exact facility address plus the room, unit, or floor number
  • The signer's photo ID physically at the bedside — a family member can bring it
  • A time of day when the signer is most alert
  • Family members who are not named in the document, if witnesses are needed
